How we handle bathroom resealing in North Stoke

Homes in North Stoke have the same weak spots as anywhere else: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. If you’re dealing with damp behind the bath or under the tray and splits where the tray meets the wall, we can put it right.

Being in a small place like North Stoke makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Mr Mastic applicator sealing the vertical joint between a glass shower screen and tiled wall

Can I do it myself?

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

What we cannot put right

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:

  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in North Stoke

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • How many areas need sealing
  • Whether the work is at height
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Any mould that needs treating

Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We will send you a clear quote for the lot.

Helping us quote

To help us quote quickly, let us know:

  • Roughly how big the job is
  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. Several sites can be quoted together.

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

How the job changes by surface

Wet rooms

Not every wet room leak is a sealant problem. We check the joints and say so if the fault looks to be elsewhere.

Shower trays & enclosures

If a tray moves underfoot, new silicone will not last. We check for movement before we reseal, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.

Bathroom resealing in North Stoke: local notes

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Managing a site like Wallingford School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. For landlords with property near Cholsey station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. Homes close to St Mary the Virgin include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

How the visit works

We bring everything the job needs with us, so there’s nothing for you to buy. After a quick look at the joints together, the area is protected and the work begins. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. For a village or hamlet like North Stoke, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Before we arrive

Looking after it afterwards

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
  • Move toiletries away from the joint

In a kitchen, do not let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans off the bead. A dry joint lasts longer.

Do not wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
