Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in West Wittering

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. Common call-outs are for water getting behind the kitchen upstand and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away, across shower trays & enclosures, baths and basins & vanity units.

Homes around West Wittering are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

West Wittering questions

Will you come out to West Wittering?

Yes. West Wittering is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

I let a flat near Nutbourne station. Can you help?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before work begins.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old sealant comes out first.

Will it make a mess?

No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Will there be a smell?

Possibly a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?

After around 24 hours in most cases. We will tell you the cure time for the product we used.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises. Working times can be discussed when we quote.

Do you need bathroom resealing in West Wittering?

Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants are not made for constant wetting, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles

If you look after a building such as West Wittering Parochial Church of England School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

10 questions to ask before you book

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:

  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • The type of sealant required
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • The number of rooms or windows

We don’t show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will talk you through it.

What to tell us for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:

  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Where the property is
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • A few pictures by email, if you can

Need a quote? Please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the job. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.

What we do, step by step

All our tools and materials come with us in the van, so there’s nothing for you to buy. Once we have agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. It normally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. In a small place like West Wittering, access is normally the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

Advice

Honest limits

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded

If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we seal

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

West Wittering homes and their sealant

West Wittering is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

For an older house near a landmark such as The Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. For landlords with property near Nutbourne station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

Keeping the joints in good condition

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then

Check the sealant now and then. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, and if anything looks wrong, just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Small signs come before a leak: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.

Landlords, agents and businesses in West Wittering

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.

If you manage several properties in or around West Wittering, several properties can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs.
