Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Water End, Hampshire
Baths, showers and worktops in Water End need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Water End
Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the new joint is not pulled apart the first time it’s used. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. We are often asked to deal with smears of silicone across the tiles and leaks into the floor or ceiling below, across baths, basins & vanity units and wet rooms.
Around Water End, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.
Big or small, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Water End and across Hampshire.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Whether the work is at height
- The number of rooms or windows
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The product the joint needs
What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.
What we need to know
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- How we’d reach the joints
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Whether it has been sealed before
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is.

Leave it or put it right?
A clean new bead makes a room look cared for, which matters if you’re letting a property or selling it. Lumpy sealant with smears on the tiles has the opposite effect, and it’s harder to put right later. Older cottages and farmhouses around Water End can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Why us?

What happens on the day
At the end, we look at the finished work together and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself normally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen, depending on the amount of work. Somewhere like Water End needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Advice
Water End: your questions answered
Do you cover Water End for bathroom resealing?
Yes, Water End is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing.
I let a flat near Hook station. Can you help?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before we start.
Should I try DIY first?
You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No. Sealing over the top looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts. Every trace of the old bead is removed first.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we are part of it.
Where are you based?
Our base is Crawley, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Is it messy?
We keep the work tidy. We protect what’s around the joints.
Will there be a smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.
Different surfaces, different methods
Basins & vanity units
The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, so it’s cut out and renewed just like a bath joint.
Shower trays & enclosures
Water often gets past the wall profile of a shower enclosure. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, sealing the side the enclosure’s instructions call for.
When something else is needed
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Failed grout lines across the wall
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
If you are not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.
Surfaces we seal
- Kitchen worktops & upstands

Aftercare tips
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Move toiletries away from the joint
Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.
Don’t wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.
Bathroom resealing in Water End: local notes
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Homes close to St Swithun's church include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Rented homes near Hook station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
