How we handle bathroom resealing in Trinafour
Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Trinafour. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. Typical jobs include new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting and cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone, across basins & vanity units, sinks & splashbacks and kitchen worktops & upstands.
Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Questions from Trinafour
Do you cover smaller places like Trinafour?
Yes. Trinafour is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Trinafour?
All our work, in Trinafour and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.
How long will the resealing take?
Allow two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. We’ll confirm how long your job needs when we quote.
Is there any odour?
Possibly a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures.
What do you put in the joint?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
Can tenants book the work?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes. Once mould has grown into the silicone, it usually can’t be cleaned out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
How to look after the new joints
Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Do not let bottles sit on the bead
Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, which is normally around 24 hours. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning generally will not remove it. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.
When it is not the sealant
In fairness, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:
- Failed grout lines across the wall
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
If you are not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How the visit works
We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included and we leave things clean and tidy. Around Trinafour, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height

Bathroom resealing in Trinafour: local notes
Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.

What affects the quote in Trinafour
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The product the joint needs
- The number and length of the joints
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- If someone has resealed it before

Do you need bathroom resealing in Trinafour?
Baths and trays move. An acrylic bath flexes under load, while a poorly supported tray can shift underfoot. Over time the joint tears or pulls away from the tile.
The problems people usually mention when they call include:
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
In and around Trinafour, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether they seal over old material or remove it
- Whether VAT is included
- What product goes in the joint
- What preparation is included
What the job involves on each surface
Wet rooms
A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.
Baths
Acrylic baths flex the most, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.
