Should I try it myself first?

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

Bathroom resealing in Staplers

A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Black, patchy sealant makes clean tiles look tired, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. We work on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & upstands and sinks & splashbacks, and the jobs we see most are a reseal done over the top of the old bead and lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt.

Smaller places like Staplers still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Older or newer, every room gets the same approach: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, whatever its size.

Bathroom resealing in Staplers: local notes

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. Staplers has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Barton Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

How the job changes by surface

Shower trays & enclosures

There are normally two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both take water every day, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Baths

Baths move more than any other fitting, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest and isn’t stretched when it’s used.

Why it’s worth doing now in Staplers

Sorting it now is quick: it takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Left until water gets through, the job can grow to lifting panels, drying out and decorating. In an older home around Staplers, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.

The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear price before work begins.

What we are called out for in Staplers

Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Bathrooms without good ventilation keep the silicone damp for hours, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • Leaking joints on a shower screen
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away

In the older streets around St Paul's Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What the quote includes, VAT included or not
  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • What guarantee comes with the work
  • What product goes in the joint

Our hiring checklist

Looking after it afterwards

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
  • Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up

Clean the silicone with care: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.

Small signs come before a leak: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. Any of these means the joint needs attention.

What affects the quote in Staplers

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • The number of rooms or windows

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.

What we need to know

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

There’s no standard price list. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To arrange one, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Staplers

Will you come out to Staplers?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Is Staplers in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Staplers is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

What do you put in the joint?

Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we will tell you what we are using.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Next to the sink we use a food-safe product where it’s needed.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. If you can, email a few pictures.

Will there be a smell?

That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little.

How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?

Allow a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. We’ll confirm how long your job needs when we quote.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before applying anything new.

The process

We bring everything the job needs with us. Once we’ve agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. It normally takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. In a smaller place like Staplers, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
