Bathroom resealing near North Street

What we are called out for in North Street

Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Bathrooms without good ventilation keep the silicone damp for hours, and mould that has grown into the silicone normally won’t clean off.

The most common problems we see are:

  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Leaking joints on a shower screen
  • Black spots spreading through the bead

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

About our bathroom resealing in North Street

Sealant that’s mouldy, cracked or peeling is worth sorting before it lets water through. A photo of the joints helps when you phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email, and you’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. If you have splits where the tray meets the wall and lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt, we can help.

Homes around North Street are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

A 12-month guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after we’ve gone.

Common questions in North Street

Will you come out to North Street?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is bathroom resealing in North Street guaranteed?

All our work, in North Street and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Where are you based?

We’re a Crawley-based firm. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?

Usually after around 24 hours. You’ll get the exact cure time before we leave.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, by replacing the sealant. Sprays can fade the marks, but cutting it out and resealing is what lasts. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.

Is it messy?

No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through
  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

If you’re not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we seal

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order.

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

What affects the quote in North Street

Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:

  • The type of sealant required
  • The amount of work
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Access and height

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

What to tell us for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • The type of property

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location and its rough size. Photos by email help us understand the job.

How it works

Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we don’t rush it. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it generally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Somewhere as small as North Street, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Clear the area around the work
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

What happens if it’s left?

A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, turning a small job into a building repair. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like North Street, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

We don’t show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will talk you through it.

Can I do it myself?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
