Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Newchurch, Isle of Wight
Baths, showers and worktops in Newchurch need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
What we do, step by step
The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can carry on as normal. The job usually takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, and we explain the cure time before we leave. In a small place like Newchurch, access is normally the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

What the job involves on each surface
Sinks & splashbacks
Around the sink, we use a product suited to kitchens, including a food-safe sealant where that’s needed. The joint is laid neatly so it’s easy to wipe.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Kitchen joints need more degreasing than bathroom ones, because cooking grease stops sealant bonding. The extra cleaning is what makes the bead last.
Bathroom resealing in Newchurch: local notes
Newchurch is within about 3 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Newchurch Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. In the older streets around All Saints' Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
Newchurch is about 4 miles south-west of Ryde, in the Isle of Wight. Jobs in Newchurch get the same care as everywhere else we work: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a one-year guarantee. Our the Isle of Wight coverage runs to 125 places, Newchurch among them. We also work in Portsmouth, about 11 miles from Newchurch.
Every address in PO36 is covered for bathroom resealing, from the main roads to the quietest streets. We cover properties on High Street, Milestone Crescent and Palmer's Lane. We also cover Winford (1 mile south), Branstone (1 mile south), Hale Common (1 mile south-west), Apse Heath (1 mile south) and Arreton (1 mile north-west). Larger places within reach include Newport (5 miles north-west), Ryde (4 miles north-east), Cowes (8 miles north-west), Shanklin (3 miles south-east), Ventnor (5 miles south) and East Cowes (7 miles north-west). If you are somewhere remote, a little more planning is needed, so let us know when you get in touch.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- The number of rooms or windows
- The amount of work
- How easy the joints are to reach
- Working hours on commercial sites
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Helping us quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Roughly how big the job is
- A few pictures by email, if you can
To get a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You will have a clear quote before we start.
What we can’t put right
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Leave it or put it right?
Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Without that preparation, the new bead will not last. In a small place like Newchurch, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Why us?
- Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
- Approved under the ARBOMaster scheme
- Over 20 years’ experience
- Sealant colour chosen to suit

Newchurch questions
Do you cover smaller places like Newchurch?
Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Sandown station?
Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before any work starts.
What colours of sealant can you use?
White and clear are the most common choices, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Tell us what you’d like when you get in touch.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
Where do you work from?
Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes, we can. The old sealant comes out, the mould is treated, and we reseal with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Do I need to be at home?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that usually means someone at home.
DIY versus a professional finish
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

Common problems we fix in Newchurch
Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.
The problems people normally mention when they call include:
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
If you let a flat or house near Sandown station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.
