Your questions about bathroom resealing in Muirhead

Can you do bathroom resealing in Muirhead?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Muirhead is part of that. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.

Will you come out to Muirhead?

Yes. Muirhead is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes. Once mould has grown into the silicone, it normally cannot be cleaned out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.

Can I choose the colour of the sealant?

White, clear and a range of colours are available. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We’re based in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Of course. Doing several areas at once is usually more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No. It’s a common reason for reseals failing. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Muirhead

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people get in touch are gaps between the worktop and the wall and water getting behind the bath panel.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are generally the first signs.

Our work is backed for twelve months.

What sealant work cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
  • A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant

If you’re not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer.

Where we work in Muirhead

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

How the job changes by surface

Basins & vanity units

The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.

Shower trays & enclosures

There are normally two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both take water every day, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

For landlords and businesses

We also work for property managers and facilities teams. We can quote a run of properties together.

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Muirhead

Glasgow has a lot of sandstone tenements, so many bathrooms sit right above a neighbour’s ceiling. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.

Letting a property close to Gartcosh station? Then fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

What we are called out for in Muirhead

No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner take their toll over the years, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone

Schools such as Chryston High School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Before you book anyone

  • How much experience the applicator has
  • What the cure time is
  • Whether you can choose the colour
  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant

Our hiring checklist

How it works

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. Once we have agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. It normally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Around Muirhead, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Clear the area around the work
  • Mention any parking rules near the property

Advice

How we quote for bathroom resealing

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • The product the joint needs
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • How many areas need sealing

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

What to tell us for a quote

To help us quote quickly, let us know:

  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Photos by email, if that is easy

Every job is quoted individually. Simply send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and describe the job and send photos if you have them.

Aftercare tips

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering

Keep bottles and razors off the sealant line, as they hold water against it. A quick squeegee after showering keeps water from sitting on the joint.

Watch for the early signs: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. Any of these means the joint needs attention.
