Bathroom resealing in Longstock
Sealant that is mouldy, cracked or peeling shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. A photo of the joints helps when you call 0345 464 0079 or email us, and you will get a clear quote before any work starts. Typical jobs include damp behind the bath or under the tray and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off, across kitchen worktops & upstands, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units.
In a village or hamlet like Longstock, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

Different surfaces, different methods
Shower trays & enclosures
There are generally two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both get soaked every time the shower runs, so both are resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Wet rooms
Not every wet room leak is a sealant problem. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.

Bathroom resealing in Longstock: local notes
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Longstock. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

For landlords and businesses
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report. We can quote for more than one property at once.
If you manage several properties in or around Longstock, several properties can go on one quote. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and pictures by email help.
The process
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The work itself takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, including the tidy-up. Somewhere like Longstock needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
How to prepare
- Mention any tricky access
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Advice
When it isn’t the sealant
We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will say what we think before you book.

How to look after the new joints
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
Do not stand bottles along the bead, as they hold water against it. A quick squeegee after showering helps the joint dry.
A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Resealing early stops it.
Signs you need bathroom resealing in Longstock
Older sealant shrinks and hardens. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, opening a hairline gap that lets water and crumbs in. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.
Look out for these signs:
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
Managing a site like Test Valley School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
What to look for in a quote

FAQs for Longstock
Do you cover smaller places like Longstock?
Yes, Longstock is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Is Longstock in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes, Longstock is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.
Do you work for letting agents?
Yes. As well as homeowners, we work for landlords, agents, businesses and hotels across Hampshire.
Are you insured?
Yes. Full insurance covers our work.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
It depends on how many joints there are and how much old sealant has to come out. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.
Will it make a mess?
We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and we clear up when we’re done.
