- Any working-time requirements on site
- Any mould that needs treating
- The size of the job
- The old material and how stubborn it is
What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.
Helping us quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to know:
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- The type of property
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Photos by email, if that is easy
Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location and its rough size. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Ladysbridge?
Older sealant shrinks and hardens. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Hot pans and harsh cleaners do not help.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
In the older streets around Parish Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Leave it or put it right?
Tired sealant isn’t a reason to replace a bath or shower. Replacing the joint is normally all it takes. If something else is wrong, we will tell you. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
What bathroom resealing looks like in Ladysbridge
Ladysbridge is within about 2 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Banff Academy, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
Ladysbridge is about 14 miles east of Buckie, in Aberdeenshire. Across the AB45 area, we cover bathroom resealing for homes and businesses. Our Aberdeenshire coverage runs to 161 places, Ladysbridge among them. You can also see our page for Aberdeen, about 39 miles away.

Further out, we also cover Turriff (10 miles south-east), Aberchirder (7 miles south) and Gardenstown (9 miles east). If you are somewhere remote, the job takes a little more planning, so mention it when you ask for a quote.

When something else is needed
We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
If you are not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Baths
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Wet rooms
- Basins & vanity units
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Shower trays & enclosures
Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the bead dries out between uses.
There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.
Common questions in Ladysbridge
What guarantee comes with bathroom resealing in Ladysbridge?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Do you cover smaller places like Ladysbridge?
Yes, Ladysbridge is covered. We work across all of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.
Do the sealants smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all, and any smell fades as they cure.
When can I use the bath or shower again?
Generally after around 24 hours. You’ll get the exact cure time before we leave.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status.
What information do you need?
Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We are fully insured for every job we do.
How it works
Most of a good job is in the preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. Outside jobs in Ladysbridge need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.
How to prepare
- Clear the area around the work
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
