Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Jaywick

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tooled smooth so water runs off instead of sitting in a ridge. We’re often asked to deal with new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting and mouldy sealant that has gone black, across shower trays & enclosures, baths and kitchen worktops & upstands.

Smaller places like Jaywick still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Jaywick

You will get a clear quote before work begins. It’s based on:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • Access and height
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Which sealant suits the joint

There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

Helping us quote

When you contact us, these details help:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Where the property is
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

A good description makes for an accurate quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

Why act early in Jaywick

You do not need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. A new bead often brings the whole room back, provided the bath, tray and tiles are in good order. If we find a deeper problem, you will hear it from us. In an older home around Jaywick, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.

Surface by surface

Basins & vanity units

Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.

Sinks & splashbacks

Next to the sink, the sealant has to cope with constant water, including a food-safe sealant where that’s needed. The joint is laid neatly so it’s easy to wipe.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:

  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Wet rooms

How it works

You don’t need to clear the whole room or building, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the work takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom in most cases. Parking around Jaywick is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

Jaywick homes and their sealant

Jaywick is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Rented homes near Clacton-On-Sea station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. If you live in an older home near St Christopher, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. If you look after a building such as Sir Martin Frobisher Academy, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
