Bathroom resealing in Hyde

Bathroom resealing in Hyde, done properly

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Hyde. We are ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our 12-month guarantee. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about a joint torn by a bath that flexes and cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone.

Somewhere as small as Hyde, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

Our work is backed for twelve months, in Hyde and everywhere else we cover.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Hyde

Do you cover smaller places like Hyde?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Can you do bathroom resealing in Hyde?

Yes, Hyde is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.

Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?

Yes. Next to the sink we use a food-safe product where it’s needed.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, and it’s something we never do.

Where are you based?

Our base is in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

Which products do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We’ll tell you what we’re using and why.

Should I try DIY first?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

Do I have to be there?

We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.

Landlord and commercial work in Hyde

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy. Several properties can go on one quote.

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. We can quote a run of properties together, and we’re fully insured for the work.

How the visit works

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. Once we have agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. It normally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. For a village or hamlet like Hyde, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

How to get a quote

Asking for a quote is easy: let us know the job and the location and its rough size. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we will come back to you with a quote.

Advice

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Different surfaces, different methods

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Laminate worktops swell if water gets into the core. A sound joint along the back edge stops that.

Basins & vanity units

The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, so it’s cut out and renewed just like a bath joint.

Why act early in Hyde

Dealing with sealant early is a short job: the work takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Left until water gets through, the job can grow to lifting panels, drying out and decorating. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Hyde, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

What you get with us

  • White, clear, grey or another colour, product permitting
  • ARBOMaster approved applicator
  • Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas
  • Trusted Arbo and Everbuild sealants

What affects the quote in Hyde

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • The number and length of the joints
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are unsure, call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

Asking for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • The type of property
  • Whether it has been sealed before

We do not publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To arrange one, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Hyde

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Hyde Church of England Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of the Holy Ascension, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Hyde is in Hampshire. From the centre of Hyde to the outskirts, bathroom resealing is available for homes and businesses alike. Our Hampshire coverage runs to 683 places, and Hyde is one of them. There’s also a page for Southampton, roughly 16 miles from Hyde.

Our applicators cover all of SP6 for bathroom resealing and the streets around it. We cover properties on Gorley Lynch and Hyde Lane and the roads around them. We also cover Hungerford (1 mile west), Frogham (1 mile north-east), North Gorley (1 mile west), Blissford (1 mile north-east) and Stuckton (1 mile north-west). We also work in nearby towns such as Totton (11 miles east), Lymington (14 miles south-east), Romsey (13 miles north-east), New Milton (12 miles south-east), Ringwood (4 miles south) and Barton on Sea (12 miles south).

What’s near Hyde

We work in homes and buildings around The Burgate School and Sixth Form, among other places. Nearby you’ll also find Godshill Castle Hill (2.5 miles north) and Fordingbridge Doll Museum (1.7 miles north-west). For a walk, there’s Blashford Lakes and Linbrook Lake.

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:

  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
  • A tray or bath that is cracked through
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
