About our regrouting in Hyde
If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the stain is often in the grout itself. New grout is the fix that lasts and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. We’re often asked to deal with grout in a colour the owner wants to change and greasy, stained grout behind the hob, across kitchen splashbacks, shower walls and tiled floors.
Somewhere as small as Hyde, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen splashbacks
We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The joint along the worktop is resealed with silicone.
Bathroom wall tiles
Splash areas around basins and baths stain first. We can do part of a wall or all of it.
How to look after the new joints
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Skip wire brushes and scourers
Clean the grout with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft brush. Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers because they wear grout away.
Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets behind the tiles, and they can begin to come away and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
Hyde homes and their sealant
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Homes close to Church of the Holy Ascension include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Schools such as Hyde Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What sealant work can’t fix
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:
- Cracked or broken tiles
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling

Quotes for regrouting in Hyde
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- The size of the job
- How many areas need sealing
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- Which sealant suits the joint
There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
What we need to know
When you contact us, these details help:
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- The address or postcode of the job
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you’re ready, call 0345 464 0079 or email us.
What happens if it’s left?
Colouring the surface of old grout is a quick cosmetic fix. They will not fill gaps or keep water out and stains often come back through. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. In a small place like Hyde, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Common questions in Hyde
What guarantee comes with regrouting in Hyde?
Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Do you cover Hyde for regrouting?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Hyde is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area to suit the site.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we are fully insured.
Does someone need to be in?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Always. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, and it’s something we never do.
What should I tell you?
Just the basics: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. Then call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is usually more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Can I do it myself?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
What happens on the day
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room in most cases. Somewhere as small as Hyde, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
How to prepare
- Clear the area around the work
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
