Ringwood Regrouting

Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors for homes and businesses in Ringwood and across Hampshire. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.

  • Grout that is cracking and breaking up
  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles

Trusted regrouting in Ringwood

Can I do it myself?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Regrouting in Ringwood, done properly

A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. You might go from white to grey, or the other way round. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote. If you have grout that makes sound tiles look old and corners filled with grout instead of silicone, we can put it right.

Smaller places like Ringwood still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee.

When something else is needed

New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It won’t solve:

  • Movement in a stud wall or floor
  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we seal

  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Shower walls
  • Bathroom floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Tiled floors
  • Wet rooms

When to call us in Ringwood

Most grout is porous, so it soaks up water, soap and dirt. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down and showers that get daily use suffer most.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened
  • Greasy, stained grout behind the hob

For an older house near a landmark such as Trinity Congregational Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

How to choose a mastic man

How the job changes by surface

Bathroom floors

New floor grout makes a big difference to how a bathroom looks. The edges where floor meets wall or bath get silicone.

Kitchen splashbacks

Grout behind the hob and sink works hard. We renew the grout and the worktop sealant.

How it works

We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. For a job in Ringwood, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
  2. The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Preparing for the visit

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Advice

Leave it or put it right?

If tiles are loose, regrouting alone is not the answer. We’ll tell you before any work starts, so you can decide what to do. On sound tiles, regrouting avoids the upheaval of a retile. In a smaller place like Ringwood, wherever a wall is exposed, a failed outside joint is a real source of damp. Indoors, a failed seal lets water into floors and panels as it would anywhere.

Combining jobs into one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

Quotes for regrouting in Ringwood

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • The amount of work
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Mould in or behind the old joints

Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

Asking for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • How we’d reach the joints
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Whether it has been sealed before

Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with the details, and pictures are welcome.

Your questions about regrouting in Ringwood

Yes, Ringwood is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.

Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Ringwood?

Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Is it messy?

Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints.

Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?

Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or just the joints that have failed.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

We usually do. New grout beside old sealant wouldn’t look right and wouldn’t keep water out.

When can I use the shower again?

We give you a time before we leave. It depends on the grout and the sealant used, so follow the time we give you.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before resealing.
