Bathroom resealing near Hurley

Bathroom resealing in Hurley

Across Hurley, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. We work on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & upstands and sinks & splashbacks, and the jobs we see most are gaps where the bath or tray has moved and a bead that has pulled away from the tiles.

Being in a small place like Hurley makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

FAQs for Hurley

Do you work in hotels near Hurley?

Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Is Hurley within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Is white the only colour available?

White, clear and a range of colours are available. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.

How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in Hurley?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No. Fresh silicone cannot stick to the old bead, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old sealant comes out first.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What sealant do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.

Do I need to be at home?

We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that generally means someone at home.

When something else is needed

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • A tray or bath that is cracked through

If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you a straight answer.

What we’re called out for in Hurley

Mould is the reason many people want their sealant replaced. Steamy rooms that do not dry out keep the silicone damp for hours, and mould that has grown into the silicone normally won’t clean off.

The problems people normally mention when they call are:

  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • A joint torn by a bath that flexes

Homes close to Church of St Mary include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

What your quote should include

  • How much experience the applicator has
  • Is the old sealant removed completely?
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • What the cure time is

Our hiring checklist

What bathroom resealing looks like in Hurley

There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Hurley. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you let a flat or house near Marlow station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Danesfield School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Hurley is about 2 miles south-west of Marlow, in Windsor and Maidenhead. Wherever you are in the SL6 postcode area, our applicators can take on bathroom resealing. Our area takes in 57 places across Windsor and Maidenhead. For nearby work, see our Reading page.

Different surfaces, different methods

Wet rooms

If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We check the joints and say so if the fault looks to be elsewhere.

Basins & vanity units

The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.

What happens if it’s left?

Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it will not bond. Water creeps under it and mould follows, so the next person has twice as much to remove. Older cottages and farmhouses around Hurley can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

We do not show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

How to look after the new joints

Looking after new joints is easy:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

What affects the quote in Hurley

Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:

  • The size of the job
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Which sealant suits the joint

Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.

What to tell us for a quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

If you’re in Hurley and need bathroom resealing, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and you’ll get a clear quote before work begins.

What we do, step by step

At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The visit itself normally takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, depending on the size of the job. Somewhere as small as Hurley, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Clear the area around the work
