- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
Bathroom resealing in Danesfield, done properly
The secret of a lasting bead is the preparation. Every bit of old silicone comes out, down to the thin film left on the tiles, after which the joint is degreased and any mould treated. New silicone goes on only when the joint is fully dry. If you have gaps between the worktop and the wall and splits where the tray meets the wall, we can put it right, on sinks & splashbacks, wet rooms and baths alike.
Somewhere as small as Danesfield, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

How we quote for bathroom resealing
Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- How easy the joints are to reach
- When we can work, for business premises
- The old material and how stubborn it is
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
Helping us quote
To help us quote quickly, let us know:
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- How we’d reach the joints
- If someone has resealed it before
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we’ll talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you are ready, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, which is usually around 24 hours. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.
Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Honest limits
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t solve:
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll say what we think before you book.

How it works
On the day, we look over the joints with you first, so you know exactly what we are doing. Surfaces next to the work are protected before we start. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. In a small place like Danesfield, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

What bathroom resealing looks like in Danesfield
There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Danesfield. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Rented homes near Marlow station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. Schools such as Danesfield School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Homes close to Church of St Mary include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Wet rooms
A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the internal corners need silicone rather than grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.
Basins & vanity units
Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.
Danesfield: your questions answered
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Marlow station?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners, and several properties can go on one quote. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.
Do you take on hotel work around Danesfield?
Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. Rooms can be done a few at a time, so the building stays open.
Do I need to be at home?
It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we’ll agree access with you when we book.
What colours of sealant can you use?
You are not limited to white: white, clear and colours to suit tiles and worktops. We’ll talk it through when we quote.
Are you insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes, every time. New sealant will not bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.
Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?
Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, in a kitchen-suitable sealant, matched to the worktop where it’s on show.
Landlords, agents and businesses in Danesfield
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. We can quote for more than one property at once.
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
