Bathroom resealing for Harbridge homes and businesses

Bathroom resealing in Harbridge, done properly

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. If you have black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and smears of silicone across the tiles, we can help.

For a small place like Harbridge, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

Big or small, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee.

When something else is needed

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you a straight answer.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands

Looking after it afterwards

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone

In a kitchen, don’t let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans off the bead. A dry joint lasts longer.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.

Bathroom resealing around Harbridge

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

In the older streets around Church of All Saints, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Why it’s worth doing now in Harbridge

The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you don’t see: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Skip those steps and even the best silicone fails early. Older cottages and farmhouses around Harbridge can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

Questions from Harbridge

Do you cover Harbridge for bathroom resealing?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Harbridge is part of that. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing.

Is bathroom resealing in Harbridge guaranteed?

All our work, in Harbridge and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.

Do you work for letting agents?

Yes. Domestic, commercial and hotel work are all part of what we do.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure your landlord agrees.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

Our base is Crawley. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?

That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.

Will it make a mess?

Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints, and the area is left clean when we finish.

Surface by surface

Wet rooms

If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Upstands and back edges are cut out, cleaned of grease and resealed, since cooking leaves a film that stops silicone sticking. The extra cleaning is what makes the bead last.

How it works

Once we are on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. In a small place like Harbridge, access is generally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height

Can I do it myself?

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.

When to call us in Harbridge

Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Bathrooms without good ventilation give mould all the damp it needs, and mould that has grown into the silicone normally won’t clean off.

Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
  • Failed sealant on the screen profile

In and around Harbridge, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

What your quote should include

  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
  • The length of the guarantee
  • Who does the work, and how experienced they are
  • Whether you can choose the colour
