Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Frating, Essex
Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in Frating? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
How we handle bathroom resealing in Frating
It is not only bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. If you’re dealing with a reseal done over the top of the old bead and gaps between the worktop and the wall, we can help, on basins & vanity units, baths and sinks & splashbacks alike.
For a small place like Frating, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.
You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Frating as everywhere else we work.

Why act early in Frating
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it will not bond. Water creeps under it and mould follows, so the next person has twice as much to remove. Older cottages and farmhouses around Frating can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
The cost depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before work begins.

Bathroom resealing in Frating: local notes
Frating is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Rented homes near Alresford station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. Homes close to Saint Andrew's Church include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
Frating is about 3 miles east of Wivenhoe, in Essex. Wherever you are in the CO7 postcode area, we can carry out bathroom resealing at your property. We cover 644 towns and villages across Essex. You can also see our page for Chelmsford, about 24 miles away.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Frating
Is Frating within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Alresford station?
Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before work begins.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and you will get one quote.
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.
Do the sealants smell?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures. Ventilation helps.
Does the resealing come with a guarantee?
Yes. All our work comes with a 12-month guarantee.

Landlord and commercial work in Frating

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements.
How the job changes by surface
Sinks & splashbacks
Around the sink, we use a product suited to kitchens, including a food-safe sealant where that’s needed. The bead is finished smooth so it wipes clean.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows.
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- The number of rooms or windows
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The size of the job
We do not show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote.
What we need to know

What happens on the day
We bring everything the job needs with us. Once we’ve agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. It normally takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. In a small place like Frating, access is normally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
- Let us know about parking restrictions

How to look after the new joints
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Don’t let bottles sit on the bead
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
Check the sealant now and then. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, so if something does not look right, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
