About our bathroom resealing in Ewelme

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We are often asked to deal with leaks into the floor or ceiling below and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off, across baths, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms.

Homes around Ewelme are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Ewelme and across Oxfordshire.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

There’s no set price list. The quote depends on:

  • The product the joint needs
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • The number and length of the joints

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location, and roughly how big it is. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we’ll take it from there.

What the job involves on each surface

Basins & vanity units

Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, so it’s cut out and renewed just like a bath joint.

Sinks & splashbacks

The edge of an inset sink is a common place for water to get under the worktop. We reseal the visible edge of the sink where it has failed.

When to call us in Ewelme

Silicone doesn’t last for ever. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner take their toll over the years, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.

Look out for these signs:

  • A joint torn by a bath that flexes
  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Questions to ask before you book

Ewelme questions

Is Ewelme within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Is bathroom resealing in Ewelme guaranteed?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Can landlords and businesses book you?

Yes. As well as homeowners, we work for landlords, agents, businesses and hotels across Oxfordshire.

When can I use the bath or shower again?

Generally after around 24 hours. You’ll get the exact cure time before we leave.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.

My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?

Yes. The old sealant comes out, the mould is treated, and we reseal with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

How it works

At the end, we look at the finished work together and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself normally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, depending on the amount of work. Somewhere as small as Ewelme, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

What sealant work can’t fix

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:

  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • A tray or bath that is cracked through
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

If you’re not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Where we work in Ewelme

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks

Looking after it afterwards

Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:

  • Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, as they hold water against it. A quick squeegee after showering helps the joint dry.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, and the board underneath can swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will quote.

Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
