How we handle bathroom resealing in Egypt
Across Egypt, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. Typical jobs include gaps between the worktop and the wall and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off, on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & upstands and baths.
For a small place like Egypt, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Egypt as everywhere else we work.

Bathroom resealing around Egypt
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you let a flat or house near Burnham station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. If you look after a building such as Farnham Common Infant School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as St John the Evangelist, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
Egypt is about 3 miles north of Slough, in Slough. Jobs in Egypt get the same care as everywhere else we work: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Across Slough, we cover 31 places, and Egypt is one of them. For nearby work, see our Reading page.
Work in SL2 works the same way as everywhere else we cover. We cover properties on Cages Wood Drive, Hammond End and The Avenue. If you are just outside Egypt, we cover Farnham Common (1 mile south-east), Hedgerley (1 mile north-east), East Burnham (1 mile south), Farnham Royal (1 mile south) and Littleworth Corner (2 miles west). Further out, we also cover Slough (3 miles south), Cippenham (3 miles south), Chalvey (4 miles south), Langley (5 miles south-east), Upton (4 miles south) and Burnham (3 miles south-west).
Near you in Egypt
We work in homes and buildings around Beechwood School, The Royal Oak pub and Caldicott School, among other places. The nearest railway station is Burnham station, roughly 2.9 miles south-west. A little further out are Wexham Park Hospital (2.7 miles south-east). Open spaces near Egypt include Burnham Beeches and Taplow Lake.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Aftercare is simple:
- Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.
Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
When it isn’t the sealant
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Joints and surfaces we work on

- Sinks & splashbacks
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Baths
- Wet rooms
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
Surface by surface
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Water behind a laminate worktop can make the edge swell. A sound joint along the back edge stops that.
Wet rooms
Not every wet room leak is a sealant problem. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.
What happens if it’s left?
A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, and that’s a far bigger job than a reseal. In a small place like Egypt, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.

What affects the quote in Egypt
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:
- The size of the job
- Whether the work is at height
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Which sealant suits the joint
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You will know the price before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- How we’d reach the joints
- If someone has resealed it before
- The problem you’ve noticed
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and add photos by email if you can.
How the visit works
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The job generally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is from start to finish. In a small place like Egypt, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before

Advice

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. Several properties can go on one quote.
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.
FAQs for Egypt
Will you come out to Egypt?
Yes, Egypt is covered. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Is Egypt in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Egypt is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Are you insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is normally more efficient.
Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?
Yes. Once mould has grown into the silicone, it usually can’t be cleaned out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.
Do I need to be at home?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.
Where do you work from?
We work from Crawley. We cover Egypt and the rest of Slough.
Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?
Yes. The old sealant is cut out and the joint degreased, because cooking grease stops silicone sticking, then a colour-matched bead is laid.
