Need bathroom resealing in Britwell?

Why deal with it now?

Fresh sealant smartens a bathroom or kitchen with very little disruption, which matters if you’re letting a property or selling it. A smeared, uneven DIY bead does the opposite, and it’s harder to put right later. In an older home around Britwell, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

Why us?

About our bathroom resealing in Britwell

Homes in Britwell have the same weak spots as anywhere else: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We’re often asked to deal with shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and leaking joints on a shower screen, on wet rooms, sinks & splashbacks and baths.

Smaller places like Britwell still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them

If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we seal

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Looking after it afterwards

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Wait for the cure time we give you

In a kitchen, don’t let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

What the job involves on each surface

Shower trays & enclosures

Water often gets past the wall profile of a shower enclosure. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, sealing the side the enclosure’s instructions call for.

Sinks & splashbacks

Around the sink, we use a product suited to kitchens, and a food-safe product where it’s needed. The joint is laid neatly so it’s easy to wipe.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Britwell

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings. Britwell has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.

Rented homes near Burnham station change hands often, and fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Claycots School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Britwell

Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles

Homes close to Church of St Mary include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Common questions in Britwell

Will you come out to Britwell?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

I let a flat near Burnham station. Can you help?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Tell us what needs doing and where, plus photos if you have them. If we need more, we will ask.

What sealant do you use?

The product depends on the job: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

Can I do it myself?

You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

Do I have to be there?

That depends on where the joints are. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status.

The process

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. Once we’ve agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. It normally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. A visit to Britwell is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Getting ready for the visit

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
