About our bathroom resealing in Dunragit
Sealant that is mouldy, cracked or peeling shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a photo of the joints, and you’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. If you have water escaping at the shower enclosure and leaks into the floor or ceiling below, we can put it right, on wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & upstands alike.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Dunragit work just as hard as those in the cities. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Different surfaces, different methods
Sinks & splashbacks
The edge of an inset sink is a common place for water to get under the worktop. We reseal the visible edge of the sink where it has failed.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop, so the line does not stand out.
Questions from Dunragit
Is Dunragit within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Is bathroom resealing in Dunragit guaranteed?
All our work, in Dunragit and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes, by replacing the sealant. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Good ventilation helps keep it away.
Which products do you use?
It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.
Where are you based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Dunragit.
Is white the only colour available?
There’s a choice: clear, white and colours chosen to suit the room. We’ll talk it through when we quote.
Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?
Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then we reseal in a colour to suit.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Dunragit?
No sealant lasts indefinitely. Daily water, heat and cleaning products slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.
The problems people generally mention when they call are:
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
Whether the job is in Dunragit itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

The process
Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, protect the area around them, carry out the job and tidy away. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Outdoor work around Dunragit depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
Preparing for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Mention any tricky access
- Clear the area around the work

Advice
Keeping the joints in good condition
Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:
- Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans away from the silicone. The drier the joint stays, the longer it lasts.
Watch for the early signs: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. Any of these means the joint needs attention.
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- Access and height
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- The product the joint needs
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will explain what it covers.
What we need to know
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- The problem you’ve noticed
For a quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before work begins.
Dunragit homes and their sealant
Dunragit is within about 2 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Around Dunragit, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

What we can’t put right
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.
