Why it’s worth doing now in Dorchester
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it won’t bond. Water creeps under it and mould follows. Older cottages and farmhouses around Dorchester can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first.

How we handle bathroom resealing in Dorchester
Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints all take splashes every day, and water that gets into the back edge of a worktop can swell the board. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. If you are dealing with sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away and mouldy sealant that has gone black, we can put it right.
Being in a small place like Dorchester makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee.

When something else is needed
We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we are called out for in Dorchester
The wrong product fails fast. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants are not made for constant wetting, so they crack, discolour or grow mould quickly. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
If you let a flat or house near Culham station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Dorchester
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Dorchester. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.
For an older house near a landmark such as Dorchester Abbey, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. If you look after a building such as Dorchester St Birinus Church of England School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Dorchester questions
Do you work in hotels near Dorchester?
Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.
Is Dorchester within the area you cover?
Yes. Dorchester is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
How long will the resealing take?
One bath or shower is around two hours’ work, old sealant removal included. A full bathroom and kitchen can take most of a day.
Where do you work from?
We work from Crawley. We cover Dorchester and the rest of Oxfordshire, along with the rest of our area.
Is white the only colour available?
We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes, every time. New sealant will not bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.
For landlords and businesses
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report. Several properties can be quoted together.
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- Access and height
- How much there is to do
- How many areas need sealing
- The old material and how stubborn it is
Combining jobs into one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.
What we need to know
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- If someone has resealed it before
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will talk you through what we’d do. When it suits you, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.
How the visit works
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The job generally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, including the tidy-up. Somewhere as small as Dorchester, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.
Getting ready for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.
A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Resealing early stops it.
