Bathroom resealing near Culham

About our bathroom resealing in Culham

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Culham. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, baths and shower trays & enclosures, and people most often call us about lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt and black spots spreading through the bead.

Being in a small place like Culham makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

A 12-month guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

How it works

Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, and the area is left clean. Somewhere as small as Culham, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any tricky access
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

Common problems we fix in Culham

Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Steamy rooms that don’t dry out keep the silicone damp for hours, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.

People usually contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand

If you look after a building such as Culham Parochial Church of England Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

If you manage several properties in or around Culham, several properties can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and photos by email help.

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements.

Common questions in Culham

Do you work in hotels near Culham?

Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Culham station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No, never. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, in a kitchen-suitable sealant, matched to the worktop where it’s on show.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are fully insured.

Is there any odour?

Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures.

When it is not the sealant

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

  • Basins & vanity units

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • Access and height

Doing several joints on one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

Helping us quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:

  • If someone has resealed it before
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • The problem you’ve noticed

We do not publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To arrange one, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Aftercare tips

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Move toiletries away from the joint

Clean the silicone with care: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Scourers and blades can nick the surface, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.

Small signs come before a leak: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Culham

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Culham. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room.

In the older streets around Church of St Paul, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. For landlords with property near Culham station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

Should I try it myself first?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.
