Trusted bathroom resealing in Craigellachie

How it works

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The work normally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen, depending on how much there is to do. Around Craigellachie, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Before we arrive

  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Advice

Bathroom resealing in Craigellachie, done properly

Resealing is a small job that makes a big difference. Black, patchy sealant makes clean tiles look tired, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. It also seals the gaps that let water behind the bath. We’re often asked to deal with new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting and mouldy sealant that has gone black, on kitchen worktops & upstands, wet rooms and basins & vanity units.

Bathrooms in smaller places like Craigellachie work just as hard as those in the cities. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.

You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything is not right with it, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Shower trays & enclosures

There are normally two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both get soaked every time the shower runs, so both are resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Wet rooms

Wet rooms rely on sound joints at floor and wall junctions. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, and our work is on the visible joints only.

Craigellachie questions

Is bathroom resealing in Craigellachie guaranteed?

All our work, in Craigellachie and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Do you cover smaller places like Craigellachie?

Yes. Craigellachie is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes, every time. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.

How long will the resealing take?

That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. Allow a couple of hours for a typical bath or shower.

Can tenants book the work?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can I do it myself?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

When can I use the bath or shower again?

Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or as long as we advise for that product.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We’re fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.

How to look after the new joints

Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line

Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Craigellachie

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • The type of sealant required
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Access and height

The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first and agree the price before starting.

What to tell us for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • How we’d reach the joints
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • The type of property
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking

We quote each job on its own. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details and send pictures if you have them.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Craigellachie

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.

If you live in an older home near Church Of Macallan And Burial Ground With Elchies Mausoleum, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

What we are called out for in Craigellachie

With age, silicone loses its stretch. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, opening a hairline gap that lets water and crumbs in. Hot pans and harsh cleaners don’t help.

People usually contact us after spotting one of these:

  • Failed sealant on the screen profile
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand

In and around Craigellachie, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

What sealant work can’t fix

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler

Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
