Bathroom Resealing in Catmore

Baths, showers and worktops in Catmore need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.

  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Leaking joints on a shower screen
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal

What sealant work can’t fix

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:

  • Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.

If you manage several properties in or around Catmore, jobs at different addresses can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and pictures by email help.

Catmore homes and their sealant

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you live in an older home near Church of St Margaret, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Around Catmore, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

How the visit works

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Somewhere as small as Catmore, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Aftercare tips

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Do not let bottles sit on the bead
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
  • Open a window or run the fan so the room dries

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, as they hold water against it. A quick squeegee after showering keeps water from sitting on the joint.

There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.

What affects the quote in Catmore

We don’t publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. What we look at:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • The number and length of the joints
  • Which sealant suits the joint

Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you’re unsure, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.

Helping us quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Roughly how big the job is

Common questions in Catmore

What guarantee comes with bathroom resealing in Catmore?

All our work, in Catmore and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Can you do bathroom resealing in Catmore?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Catmore is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.

What does bathroom resealing cost?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote and we’ll talk you through it.

Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?

Yes. Next to the sink we use a food-safe product where it’s needed.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us, and we are fully insured.

Where are you based?

We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Catmore, along with the rest of our area.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No. Fresh silicone cannot stick to the old bead, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old sealant comes out first.

What sealant do you use?

Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We will tell you what we’re using and why.

What happens if it’s left?

Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but mould that has grown into the sealant tends to return. Cutting it out and resealing with anti-fungal silicone is the fix that lasts. Older cottages and farmhouses around Catmore can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

What it costs depends on the amount of work, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.

What the job involves on each surface

Sinks & splashbacks

Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. It’s resealed in white, clear or a colour to suit.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Laminate worktops swell if water gets into the core. A continuous bead along the back keeps water out.
