Carnbo Bathroom Resealing
Bathroom resealing across Carnbo and nearby, with old sealant always removed completely and a one-year guarantee.
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
Why act early in Carnbo
You don’t need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. A new bead often brings the whole room back. If we find a deeper problem, you will hear it from us. In an older home around Carnbo, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Carnbo
We fill the bath before sealing it. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the new joint isn’t pulled apart the first time it’s used. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. If you have black spots spreading through the bead and leaks into the floor or ceiling below, we can help, on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & upstands and sinks & splashbacks alike.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are normally the first signs.
You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How the visit works
Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers, and the area is left clean. For a place like Carnbo, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Clear the area around the work
- Mention any tricky access

Carnbo: your questions answered
What guarantee comes with bathroom resealing in Carnbo?
All our work, in Carnbo and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Will you come out to Carnbo?
Yes. Carnbo is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before resealing.
What should I tell you?
Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. Then drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Will it make a mess?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. Allow a couple of hours for a typical bath or shower.
Are you insured?
Yes. We are fully insured.
What colours of sealant can you use?
You are not limited to white: clear, white and colours chosen to suit the room. We’ll talk it through when we quote.
How to look after the new joints
Aftercare is simple:
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Don’t let bottles sit on the bead
Keep bottles and razors off the sealant line, as they hold water against it. A quick squeegee after showering helps the joint dry.
A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning usually won’t remove it. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.
Do you need bathroom resealing in Carnbo?
No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.
Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
Around Carnbo, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Carnbo
In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
For jobs in and around Carnbo, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.

Can I do it myself?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
What the job involves on each surface
Shower trays & enclosures
Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both take water every day, so both are resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Baths
Baths move more than any other fitting, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point and is not torn the first time it’s used.
Honest limits
We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:
- Failed grout lines across the wall
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
- A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
If you are not sure, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.
