Which joints we reseal

  • Basin to wall, including the splashback
  • Vanity unit tops and countertop basins
  • Pedestal and semi-pedestal basins where they meet the wall or floor
  • Cloakroom basins in small rooms
  • Kitchen and utility sinks, inset and undermount, with a food-safe product by the kitchen sink where it’s needed

Why basin sealant fails

Basins get splashed many times a day, and water sits along the back joint after every hand wash. Soap and toothpaste residue feeds mould, and the bead often gets scrubbed hard. On vanity units, a small gap lets water into the cabinet top, which can swell if it is chipboard. Once the bead has mould in it or has come away from the wall, it needs replacing rather than cleaning.

How we reseal a basin

  1. All the old sealant is cut out, including any layers underneath.
  2. The joint is cleaned, treated for mould and dried.
  3. We check the basin is firmly fixed. A loose basin will tear a new bead, so we’ll tell you if it needs fixing first.
  4. A neat bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is laid and tooled, colour-matched where you want it.

A basin is usually a quick job, so many customers have it done on the same visit as a bath or shower reseal.

What it costs

We don’t publish set prices. It depends on how much old sealant has to come out, mould, how many joints there are and whether anything else needs doing on the same visit. Call or email with a few details (photos help) and we’ll give you a clear quote before any work starts.

Basin and sink resealing: common questions

How long does a basin reseal take?

It’s usually one of the quicker jobs, and often done alongside a bath or shower on the same visit.

How long before I can use the basin?

We’ll tell you the cure time for the product we used before we leave. Keep water off the new joint until then.

Can you reseal a kitchen sink too?

Yes, with a food-safe product beside the sink where it’s needed.

My basin moves when I lean on it. Will resealing fix it?

No. A loose basin needs fixing first, or it will tear the new bead. We’ll tell you if that’s the case.

Is it guaranteed?

Yes. Every job comes with our one-year guarantee.
