Window mastic in Woodstock, done properly
Over two decades of sealing frames has taught us which products suit which walls. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every job is covered by a 12-month guarantee. If you have black, perished sealant on frames and sealant in the wrong colour for the frame, we can help, on composite doors, timber windows & doors and aluminium frames alike.
Many houses in smaller places like Woodstock have conservatories, garden rooms or patio doors. Their glazing joints and frame seals are as much a part of the job as the windows, and any older timber or sash windows need a sealant that suits them.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Looking after it afterwards
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Wash the frames with mild soapy water
- Keep drainage slots and sill grooves clear
- Paint up to the joint, not over it
- Keep timber frames painted
Timber frames need their paint kept up, because bare, wet timber moves more and pulls at the joint. Paint up to the joint, not over the silicone.
Water gets in quietly when mastic fails. You might not see it until plaster blows or a damp patch appears inside. Early resealing stops it reaching that point.
How the visit works
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The job generally takes a few hours for a handful of frames, longer for a whole house. Parking around Woodstock is normally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.
- First, we confirm safe access to each frame.
- Old, cracked mastic is removed completely, along with any loose debris.
- Frame and wall are cleaned and must be dry before sealing, and primed where the sealant calls for it.
- Deep voids are backed, then the sealant is gunned in.
- The joint is shaped to shed water and the area tidied.

Advice
When it isn’t the sealant
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- Damp coming through the wall itself rather than the frame joint
- Faulty window hardware
- Misting between the panes of a double-glazed unit (that needs a new unit)
If you’re not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Woodstock questions
Is Woodstock within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do you work for landlords with property near Hanborough station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Of course. Doing several areas at once is normally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Will resealing my frames help with draughts?
Yes, where the draught is at the frame edge. We check where the draught is before work begins.
How long does it take to reseal the windows on a house?
A handful of frames is a short visit, while a whole house takes longer. You’ll get a timescale with the quote.
Is there any odour?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure, which fades as it sets. Ventilation helps.
What information do you need?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
Why act early in Woodstock
If you are painting or rendering, reseal at the same time. Fresh joints finish the job neatly, and it’s easier while the walls are being worked on anyway. In an older home around Woodstock, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.
Leaving a failed joint generally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are unsure, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

Frames and glazing around Woodstock
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast. Historic houses like Blenheim Palace (about 0.8 miles south-west) are a reminder that the area around Woodstock has older buildings as well as new. Where a home is older, older timber frames in brick or stone need a different approach from a modern uPVC window.
Homes close to Church of St Mary Magdalene include some older properties, and the windows may be timber, sash or later replacements, and each needs the right sealant against the wall. If you let a flat or house near Hanborough station, sound mastic around windows and doors keeps out the draughts and damp that tenants notice first.

Common problems we fix in Woodstock
A lot of older mastic was never designed to stay flexible. Once it has hardened, the frame’s movement tears it from the wall, and a gap opens along one edge.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Cracked sealant at the sill ends
- Untidy mastic left by window fitters
- Sealant in the wrong colour for the frame
- Mastic that’s falling out in pieces
Schools such as Woodstock Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and its window and door frames need their mastic kept sound, just like a home’s.

Surface by surface
Aluminium frames
Metal frames expand in the sun and are often slim, with little room for error. A neat, narrow bead in a colour to match keeps the clean look.
Timber windows & doors
On period timber windows, traditional sand mastic is sometimes the better choice. We can talk through the options.
DIY versus a professional finish
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
