About our window mastic in Kinlochmore
If you can feel air around a shut window, the gap is often at the frame. A new joint stops the air getting through and quietens the whistle on windy days. If the draught is through the window seals instead, we will tell you. We work on uPVC windows, patio & French doors and window sills, and common reasons people get in touch are hard, cracked sealant around windows and gaps left after new windows were fitted.
Outdoor sealant needs a dry surface, so window work around Kinlochmore is planned around the weather. Let us know about access to every frame, including any upstairs.
Your job is guaranteed for a year, as with all our work.

What we are called out for in Kinlochmore
Sun, frost and rain wear sealant out. Sunlight dries the surface out, until it loses its stretch and starts to crack.
People usually contact us after spotting something like this:
- Sealant in the wrong colour for the frame
- Untidy mastic left by window fitters
- Gaps where the sill meets the wall
- Damp patches on the reveal after heavy rain
Whether the job is in Kinlochmore itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.
Questions to ask before you book

- Whether all the old sealant comes out first

Frames and glazing around Kinlochmore
Kinlochmore is within about 2 miles of the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. Both are hard on the mastic around window and door frames, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. The west of Scotland is wetter than the east, so there’s plenty of rain for the mastic around window and door frames to keep out.
Around Kinlochmore, as everywhere, window mastic is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Leave it or put it right?
A cracked joint around a frame lets rain into the wall. Over time that can mean damp patches, damaged plaster and rotting timber. Resealing now is a small job by comparison. In a place like Kinlochmore, small leaks are easy to put off, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

What else we do in Kinlochmore
What the job involves on each surface
Aluminium frames
Bi-fold and sliding aluminium doors have long frame joints, and the threshold joint takes a lot of water. We prepare and reseal every joint, backing the deep ones.
uPVC windows
We clean the frame edge carefully so the plastic isn’t marked, then the sealant goes in between frame and wall.
Questions from Kinlochmore
Do you cover Kinlochmore for window mastic?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Kinlochmore is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.
Will you come out to Kinlochmore?
Yes. Kinlochmore is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
How long before the joint can be used?
Different products cure at different speeds, so please follow the time we give you when we finish.
How many windows can you do in a day?
A handful of frames is a short visit. We confirm the timing with your quote.
How much does window mastic cost in Kinlochmore?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We’re ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
Will resealing my frames help with draughts?
It will if the frame joint is the problem. We find where the air is coming from before we reseal.
What information do you need?
Just the basics: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
How it works
On the day, we start by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Surfaces next to the work are protected before we start. Most jobs take a few hours for a few frames, or a day or more for a whole house. Around Kinlochmore, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints.
- First, we confirm safe access to each frame.
- All the failed sealant is cut away.
- Frame and wall are cleaned and must be dry before sealing.
- Deep voids are backed, then the sealant is gunned in.
- The joint is shaped to shed water and the area tidied.
How to prepare
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Related advice
Keeping the joints in good condition
Aftercare is simple:
- Walk round the house once a year and look at the joints
- Clear any debris from frame drain holes
- Keep jet washers away from the mastic
- Don’t paint over the silicone
Wipe the frames with soapy water when you clean the windows, and avoid solvent cleaners on the sealant.
Draughts get worse, not better. As the old mastic shrinks further, more air gets through, and a cold room gets colder. A new joint closes it up.
