Common questions in Iden Green
Will you come out to Iden Green?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
What guarantee comes with remedial sealant in Iden Green?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We’re a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
What sealant do you use?
The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.
Can I choose the sealant colour?
Normally, yes. Sealants come in white, clear, grey and other colours, and we agree the colour with you before any work starts.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We’re fully insured, and we can confirm the details when we quote.
Can you remove old sealant without damaging the bath?
Yes. We take our time over removal, particularly on softer surfaces like acrylic.
Remedial sealant for homes and businesses in Iden Green
If a joint fails again and again, something is causing it. A tray that moves, a worktop that is not fixed, the wrong sealant or water getting in elsewhere will defeat even a perfect bead. We look for the cause before we reseal. Common call-outs are for sealant applied over old sealant that has lifted and caulk or the wrong sealant used in a wet area, across expansion joints, mouldy bath & shower sealant and botched or over-sealed joints.
For a small place like Iden Green, remedial sealant is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

The process
At the end, we look at the finished work together. The work normally takes a few hours, depending on how many layers have to come out, depending on the amount of work. Somewhere as small as Iden Green, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- First we find out how and where the joint has failed.
- We strip the joint completely, removing any layers below.
- We clean the joint, treat any mould and let it dry.
- Where the joint moves, backing and a flexible sealant suited to the movement go in.
- The new joint is tooled neatly and we explain anything else we found.
How to prepare
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before

What we cannot put right
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- A leaking trap, valve or supply pipe
- Older mastics that may need an asbestos check before removal
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
What we seal
- Botched or over-sealed joints
- Failed movement joints
- Expansion joints
- Mouldy bath & shower sealant
- Shrunken worktop sealant
- Leaking tray & enclosure joints
Should I try it myself first?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Why act early in Iden Green
Leaks that are left keep doing damage out of sight: wet floors, stained ceilings and swollen worktops. By comparison, sorting the joint is quick. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Iden Green, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Aftercare tips
A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:
- Keep movement joints clear of mortar and paint
- Do not add new sealant on top of old
- Run the fan after every shower
- Look for stains below bathrooms now and then
Keep the room ventilated: use the extractor or open a window after showering.
Warning signs: peeling layers, mould showing through the bead, leaks after showering or cracks in a movement joint. Any of them means it’s time for remedial work.
What affects the quote in Iden Green
You will get a clear quote before any work starts. It’s based on:
- Access and height
- When we can work, for business premises
- Which sealant suits the joint
- How many areas need sealing
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.
Asking for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- Whether it has been sealed before
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- Where the property is
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is.

Do you need remedial sealant in Iden Green?
Products get mixed up: acrylic caulk in a wet area, a general-purpose sealant on a moving joint, or an acetoxy silicone on natural stone or some metals. None of them last.
Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:
- Decorators’ caulk around a bath or shower
- Mould trapped under a layer of silicone
- Floor or wall movement joints that have failed
- Over-sealed joints coming away
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Benenden Church of England Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
What to look for in a quote
- Is VAT in the price?
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
- How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
- Are they insured?
