Common questions in Dunton
Do you cover smaller places like Dunton?
Yes. Dunton is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is there a guarantee on remedial sealant in Dunton?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Can old silicone be taken off without scratching the tiles?
Yes. Residue is removed with a product suited to the surface rather than scraped hard.
What if resealing will not fix my leak?
We check for that before we reseal. If we find the leak is elsewhere, we tell you before going further.
Where are you based?
Our base is in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
What do you put in the joint?
We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we will tell you what we’re using.
Do you work for hotels and businesses?
Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.
How long should I leave it?
Many sealants skin over quickly but take longer to cure fully. We’ll tell you how long to leave the joint.
Remedial sealant for homes and businesses in Dunton
Movement and expansion joints fail when the sealant can’t stretch. The old sealant comes out and backing goes in to control the depth, then a flexible sealant matched to the movement goes in. Typical jobs include wide, uneven beads that look worse than the old ones and a second bead peeling off the first, on mouldy bath & shower sealant, expansion joints and botched or over-sealed joints.
Being in a small place like Dunton makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything is not right with it, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Should I try it myself first?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
When to call us in Dunton
A lot of failed joints have been sealed over rather than replaced. New silicone can’t stick to the old bead, so the new layer peels, and damp and mould settle between them.
People normally contact us after spotting something like this:
- A shower that leaks however often it’s resealed
- Floor or wall movement joints that have failed
- Beads that never stuck properly
- Sealant applied over old sealant that has lifted
Around Dunton, as everywhere, remedial sealant is only as good as the preparation behind it.
What your quote should include
- How much experience the applicator has
- When the joint can take water or movement
- What insurance they hold
- Whether they seal over old material or remove it
What affects the quote in Dunton
Call for a quick quote. The main things that affect it are:
- The product the joint needs
- Whether the work is at height
- Working hours on commercial sites
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.
What we need to know
When you contact us, it’s useful to know:
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Whether it has been sealed before
Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location, and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we will come back to you with a quote.
Honest limits
New sealant cannot fix everything, and we will tell you before work begins. Sealant will not put right:
- Failed tanking or loose tiles behind the sealant
- A leaking trap, valve or supply pipe
- Movement from fittings that aren’t supported
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.
What we seal
- Leaking tray & enclosure joints
- Shrunken worktop sealant
- Botched or over-sealed joints
- Failed movement joints
- Mouldy bath & shower sealant
- Expansion joints
Surface by surface
Leaking trays & enclosures
A cracked tray, failed valve or leaking waste needs a different fix. We say so rather than reseal.
Over-sealed & botched joints
A botched joint can hide two or three layers of sealant, including the smears and film on surrounding tiles. New sealant needs a fully clean surface.
The process
We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we’re working on. The job normally takes a few hours for most joints, depending on how much old sealant has to come out, and we explain the cure time before we leave. In a small place like Dunton, access is generally the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- Surrounding tiles, trays and frames are protected first.
- Every layer of failed sealant is stripped out.
- We clean and degrease the joint and look for signs of movement or water.
- New sealant goes in once the joint is dry, and is tooled smooth.
- You get the cure time and our view on why the joint failed.
Before we arrive
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Advice
Looking after it afterwards
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Keep an eye on the ceiling below the bathroom
- Never fill a movement joint with mortar or grout
- Air the bathroom so the sealant can dry
- Have loose fittings fixed before resealing
Ventilation keeps mould away from the new bead: use the extractor or open a window after showering.
Mould trapped under over-sealed joints spreads unseen. By the time it shows through, the joint is well past saving.

What remedial sealant looks like in Dunton
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
In the older streets around Church of St Martin, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
