About our remedial sealant in Adversane
The wrong product in the wrong joint fails however neatly it’s applied. We take it out and use a sealant made for that joint. We work on failed movement joints, shrunken worktop sealant and mouldy bath & shower sealant, and the jobs we see most are worktop sealant that has shrunk and split and a shower that leaks however often it’s resealed.
Around Adversane, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.
Whatever the size of the job, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

How to look after the new joints
A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:
- Do not add new sealant on top of old
- Look for stains below bathrooms now and then
- Clean sealant with mild products only
- Keep movement joints clear of mortar and paint
Watch the joint over the first few weeks, especially if movement was the problem. Should anything change, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.
A split movement joint lets rain into walls and floors, and left long enough, the edges of the joint can crumble. Resealing while the edges are sound is simpler.
Surface by surface
Movement & expansion joints
A movement joint must be able to stretch. Failed sealant is cut out, backing rod or tape is fitted and the joint resealed.
Worktops & kitchens
Old kitchen sealant pulls back from the wall over time. It’s cut out, degreased and resealed colour-matched to the worktop.
FAQs for Adversane
Do you cover smaller places like Adversane?
Yes, Adversane is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Can you do remedial sealant in Adversane?
Yes, Adversane is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need.
Someone sealed over the old bead. Can you fix it?
Yes. We remove every layer; over-sealing fails because silicone will not bond to silicone.

Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area.
Is it messy?
Not at all. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
Can I do it myself?
It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We are fully insured for every job we do.

What affects the cost of remedial sealant
We don’t publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. What we look at:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Any mould that needs treating
- When we can work, for business premises
- The number and length of the joints
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Roughly how big the job is
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Where the property is
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
Asking for a quote is easy: tell us what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand.
Leave it or put it right?
Stripping out botched sealant adds time to a reseal, but not by much: the work takes a few hours for most joints, depending on how much old sealant has to come out. It’s far less disruption than resealing the same joint again and again. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Adversane, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.

How the visit works
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself usually takes a few hours, depending on how many layers have to come out, depending on the amount of work. Somewhere as small as Adversane, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- Surrounding tiles, trays and frames are protected first.
- Every layer of failed sealant is stripped out.
- We clean and degrease the joint and look for signs of movement or water.
- New sealant goes in once the joint is dry, and is tooled smooth.
- You get the cure time and our view on why the joint failed.
How to prepare
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
Ask for a quote
We quote each job on its own. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details.
Related advice
When something else is needed
New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:
- Old mastic in a building from before 2000 that should be checked for asbestos before it’s disturbed
- Cracks in the fitting rather than the joint
- A tray or worktop that needs refixing first
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think.
Surfaces we seal
- Shrunken worktop sealant
- Expansion joints
- Botched or over-sealed joints
