What affects the quote in Yarmouth

We don’t publish a price list. What we look at:

  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The number and length of the joints

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

Helping us quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:

  • Where the property is
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • The type of property
  • How we’d reach the joints

There’s no standard price list. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

About our regrouting in Yarmouth

Regrouting is usually paired with resealing. Grout belongs between tiles, but internal corners and edges flex, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Doing both at once leaves the whole area sound. We work on bathroom floors, bathroom wall tiles and tiled floors, and common reasons people get in touch are grout washed out of a shower and a grout colour that no longer suits the room.

Somewhere as small as Yarmouth, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Yarmouth as everywhere else we work.

Different surfaces, different methods

Shower walls

Shower walls get wet every day, so its grout takes the most punishment. It usually fails first.

Wet rooms

Both the grout and the silicone in a wet room matter. We renew both.

How the visit works

Once we are on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. For a village or hamlet like Yarmouth, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

Signs you need regrouting in Yarmouth

Soap scum and limescale build up on grout and stick to it. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
  • Splashback grout that has darkened
  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
  • Grout stained black or orange that will not clean

Homes close to St. James' Church include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

10 questions to ask before you book

FAQs for Yarmouth

Do you take on hotel work around Yarmouth?

Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. A room-by-room programme keeps most rooms in use while the work goes on.

Do you cover smaller places like Yarmouth?

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

What information do you need?

A short description and the location. We will ask anything else we need to know.

Can tenants book the work?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

In most cases, yes. The corners and edges should be silicone, and it makes sense to renew both together.

Do I have to be there?

It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No, and we never do. It may look fine at first, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. The old sealant has to come out completely.

Should I try DIY first?

That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs.

Regrouting in Yarmouth: local notes

Yarmouth is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Rented homes near Lymington Pier station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. If you look after a building such as Yarmouth Church of England Aided Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Yarmouth is about 4 miles south-east of Lymington, in the Isle of Wight. Across the PO41 area, we cover regrouting for homes and businesses. Yarmouth is one of 125 towns and villages in the Isle of Wight where we work. You can also see our page for Southampton, about 15 miles away.

Every address in PO41 is within our area for regrouting. That includes homes and businesses on High Street, Station Road and Alma Place. Yarmouth is on the A3054, which makes it straightforward to reach with everything needed for regrouting. Other places close to Yarmouth include Bouldnor (1 mile east), Cranmore (2 miles east), Hamstead (3 miles east), Shalfleet (3 miles east) and East End (5 miles north). We also work in nearby towns such as Newport (9 miles east), Ryde (15 miles east), Cowes (9 miles north-east), Sandown (15 miles east), Shanklin (15 miles east) and Ventnor (15 miles south-east). For island and remote addresses, a little more planning is needed, so mention it when you ask for a quote.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Yarmouth

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

How to look after the new joints

A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:

  • Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
  • Do not ignore a tile that feels loose
  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use keeps water off the grout. Ventilate the room well to help it dry out.

Grout that’s washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

What we cannot put right

To be straight with you, there are a few things sealant will not fix:

  • A leaking wet room membrane
  • Cracked or broken tiles
  • Movement in a stud wall or floor

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.
