How we quote for regrouting

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The number and length of the joints
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out

Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

Helping us quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:

  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • How we’d reach the joints
  • The address or postcode of the job

We don’t publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we give you a clear quote for your job. To get started, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Regrouting in Wexham Court

A bathroom with good tiles can still look worn if the grout has gone. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. We are often asked to deal with stained grout that cleaning won’t shift and crumbling grout between the tiles, across bathroom floors, tiled floors and wet rooms.

Somewhere as small as Wexham Court, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee.

What we do, step by step

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, including the tidy-up. Somewhere as small as Wexham Court, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Advice

Signs you need regrouting in Wexham Court

Soap scum and limescale build up on grout that’s hard to shift. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Grout that makes sound tiles look old
  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
  • Old grout in a dated colour
  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Wexham School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Questions to ask before you book

  • How the colour is chosen
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
  • How long to leave it before use

Our hiring checklist

Wexham Court homes and their sealant

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. Wexham Court has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.

In the older streets around Parish Church of St Mary, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Letting a property close to Slough station? Then clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Can I do it myself?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again.

Landlord and commercial work in Wexham Court

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Different surfaces, different methods

Shower walls

Most regrouting jobs include a shower. Cracked or missing grout here lets water behind the tiles.

Kitchen splashbacks

A splashback can be regrouted without touching the worktop. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.

Keeping the joints in good condition

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Use gentle cleaners on grout
  • Rinse the tiles after showering

We’ll tell you when the area can be used again. Stick to that time, and go gently on the grout at first.

Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.

Questions from Wexham Court

Do you take on hotel work around Wexham Court?

Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. A room-by-room programme keeps most rooms in use while the work goes on.

I let a flat near Slough station. Can you help?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear quote.

How do I get a quote for regrouting in Wexham Court?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

Can you change the grout colour?

Yes. It’s the ideal time to change it. Mention the colour you have in mind when you ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Do you come to Wexham Court?

Yes, we do. Wexham Court is part of the area we cover, and the service is the same as everywhere else.

Is it messy?

No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

Do I have to be there?

We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.

Should corners be grouted or sealed?

Corners get silicone, not grout. They move slightly and grout cannot take that movement.
