West Side Regrouting
We cover West Side for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
- Grout that’s cracking and breaking up
Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Regrouting for homes and businesses in West Side
Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. Regrouting replaces the grout and keeps the tiles you have, so nothing is ripped out. Common call-outs are for old grout in a dated colour and cracked or crumbling grout lines, on kitchen splashbacks, shower walls and bathroom floors.
Being further from a city does not change the work: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
A 12-month guarantee comes as standard.

What affects the quote in West Side
We don’t publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. What we look at:
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- When we can work, for business premises
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The amount of work
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.
What to tell us for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- How we’d reach the joints
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Where the property is
Want a quote for regrouting? Please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.
Surface by surface
Bathroom wall tiles
We can regroute all the walls in a bathroom, depending on size. You can change the colour at the same time.
Corners and edges
Internal corners move, so we seal them rather than grout them.
What sealant work cannot fix
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
- A leaking shower valve or waste
If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we seal
- Tiled floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Wet rooms
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Shower walls
- Bathroom floors
How the visit works
Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that’s where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it usually takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Outdoor work around West Side depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Before we arrive
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

Do you need regrouting in West Side?
Harsh cleaners and scrubbing wear grout away. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it with repeated use, leaving the joints sunken and rough.
Common reasons people contact us are:
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
For jobs in and around West Side, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.
What your quote should include
- Whether they seal over old material or remove it
- Is VAT in the price?
- Are they insured?
- How the colour is chosen

More about regrouting
West Side homes and their sealant
West Side is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
In and around West Side, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Your questions about regrouting in West Side
Is West Side in your area for regrouting?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and West Side is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Is West Side within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We work across all of Scotland, islands included, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?
Yes. We’ll look at the rest of the room too and tell you if anything else needs attention.
Will regrouting fix loose tiles?
Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We’ll show you which ones before any grout comes out.
Will there be a smell?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures. Opening a window helps.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we’re fully insured.
How long does the job take?
A typical job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, including preparation and clearing up. We’ll confirm how long when we quote.
Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?
Yes. It’s the ideal time to change it. Tell us the colour you’d like when you ask for a quote.
