Regrouting for homes and businesses in Tye
We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, and the corners get fresh silicone. We work on tiled floors, bathroom wall tiles and shower walls, and the jobs we see most are crumbling grout between the tiles and grout stained black or orange that won’t clean.
Homes around Tye are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Tye: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Tye?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can you do regrouting in Tye?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Tye is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.
Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?
Tiles that have come away need sorting first. We will show you which ones before any grout comes out.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes. Many jobs are just the shower walls, or just the joints that have failed.
Do you work for hotels and businesses?
Yes. We have worked for hotels, offices and other businesses and we’re fully insured.
How long will you be here?
As a guide, most jobs take anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Bigger jobs take longer, and we’ll tell you how long to expect.
Is the work guaranteed?
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, including regrouting.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No. Fresh sealant does not stick to old sealant, and it traps any mould or water underneath. It all has to come out first.

What happens on the day
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you. The visit itself generally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, depending on the size of the job. In a small place like Tye, access is normally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Keep children and pets away from the work area

Why it’s worth doing now in Tye
Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but mould that has got into grout generally comes back. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Older cottages and farmhouses around Tye can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.

How to look after the new joints
A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
Before we leave, you’ll know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.
When to call us in Tye
A bathroom that stays damp keeps the grout wet, giving mould a place to grow. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.
The most common problems we see are:
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
- Shower grout that has worn away
- Floor grout that will not come clean
In the older streets around Church of St Peter, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Tye homes and their sealant
Tye is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Mill Rythe Junior School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Rented homes near Emsworth station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

Surface by surface
Wet rooms
Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It doesn’t repair failed tanking underneath.
Shower walls
The grout in a shower takes the brunt of the water. We rake it out and regrout, and reseal the corners.
