Tringford Regrouting
Regrouting for Tringford and the surrounding area: careful preparation, the right product and tidy work. Ask us for a quick quote.
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
Regrouting for homes and businesses in Tringford
Regrouting is usually paired with resealing. Grout belongs between tiles, but internal corners and edges flex, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Doing both at once leaves the whole area sound. If you’re dealing with grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned and corners filled with grout instead of silicone, we can put it right.
In a village or hamlet like Tringford, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

What the job involves on each surface
Kitchen splashbacks
Splashback grout picks up grease and cooking stains. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
Shower walls
Showers put more water on grout than anywhere else. We rake it out and regrout and renew the silicone at the edges.

Questions from Tringford
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Tring station?
Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we will send you a clear quote.
Will you come out to Tringford?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
We usually do. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and wouldn’t keep water out.
Should I try DIY first?
It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?
Loose or hollow tiles are a sign of a problem behind them. Regrouting alone isn’t the answer and we’ll say so before going ahead.
Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?
Yes, we often do. Shower grout tends to go before the rest, so many people regrout just that part.
How much does regrouting cost in Tringford?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. We agree the price before any work begins.
Should corners be grouted or sealed?
Flexible sealant. Grout belongs between the tiles, while corners and edges need a joint that can move.
Why deal with it now?
Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix. In a small place like Tringford, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

What regrouting looks like in Tringford
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Managing a site like Marsworth Church of England Infant School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Homes close to Church of All Saints include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Common problems we fix in Tringford
Soap scum and limescale build up on grout that is hard to shift. In time the grout under it darkens and breaks down, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.
Look out for any of the following:
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
If you let a flat or house near Tring station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
- Which colour the sealant will be
- The length of the guarantee
- When the joint can take water or movement
The process
When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere like Tringford needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
How to prepare
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Clear the area around the work
- Keep children and pets away from the work area

Advice
When it is not the sealant
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Cracked or broken tiles
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Can I do it myself?
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
