Regrouting for homes and businesses in Rickmansworth

When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the stain is often in the grout itself. New grout is the fix that lasts and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. Common call-outs are for grout in a colour the owner wants to change and discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles, across bathroom floors, tiled floors and shower walls.

Around Rickmansworth, it’s mostly busy family bathrooms and kitchens, where sealant and grout take a lot of daily wear. The usual signs are mould in the bead, gaps by the sink and grout that is cracked or stained.

Big or small, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Rickmansworth

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

What happens if it’s left?

Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but mould that has got into grout normally comes back. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix. In Rickmansworth, as anywhere, most leaks start as a small gap in a joint, and they’re far easier to fix early.

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

What you get with us

  • Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas
  • One-year guarantee on every job
  • An ARBOMaster approved applicator
  • Fully insured

How the visit works

When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. We protect the surfaces around the joints before we start. Most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Parking in a town like Rickmansworth is usually straightforward, but tell us if there’s a driveway or any restrictions, and mention if the work is upstairs, in a flat or high on the outside.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area

How to get a quote

We quote each job on its own, so start by telling us what you need. Simply phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and describe the job.

Can I do it myself?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

How to look after the new joints

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Use gentle cleaners on grout

Have any tile that moves checked right away. Movement will crack the new grout and lets water in.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Movement in a stud wall or floor
  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
  • Tiles that are chipped or split

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly.

Rickmansworth: your questions answered

What guarantee comes with regrouting in Rickmansworth?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Can you do regrouting in Rickmansworth?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Rickmansworth is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do. We can talk about working times when we quote.

Does someone need to be in?

Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

Is it worth trying it myself?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

Can you regrout just the shower?

Yes, we often do. Shower grout tends to go before the rest, so it’s often the only area that needs doing.

Do you reseal at the same time?

Normally, yes. The corners and edges should be silicone and doing both at once leaves everything sound.

Regrouting in Rickmansworth: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Schools such as Saint Joan of Arc Catholic School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. If you let a flat or house near Rickmansworth station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Different surfaces, different methods

Bathroom floors

New floor grout makes a big difference to how a bathroom looks. The edges where floor meets wall or bath get silicone.

Kitchen splashbacks

A splashback can be regrouted without touching the worktop. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.
