About our regrouting in The Mint

Changing the grout colour is a simple way to update tiles. Light grout can go darker to hide marks or back again. Just mention the colour you’d like when you call 0345 464 0079 or email us. If you’re dealing with grout stained black or orange that won’t clean and splashback grout that has darkened, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

For a small place like The Mint, regrouting is planned like any other job: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

Can I do it myself?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

Why it’s worth doing now in The Mint

Regrouting will not help where tiles have come away. We point that out first, so you can decide what to do. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting is far less disruptive than retiling. Around The Mint, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

What regrouting looks like in The Mint

The Mint has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

For landlords with property near Liss station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. For an older house near a landmark such as Hope Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. Schools such as Liss Junior School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

The Mint is about 4 miles north-east of Petersfield, in Hampshire. Whether you are in the middle of The Mint or further out, regrouting is available for homes and businesses alike. Our Hampshire coverage runs to 683 places, The Mint among them. There’s also a page for Portsmouth, about 19 miles away.

Nearby, we also carry out regrouting in Liss Forest (1 mile north-west), Liss (1 mile south-west), Rake (1 mile south-east), West Liss (1 mile south-west) and Hill Brow (1 mile south). Larger places within reach include Havant (14 miles south), Horndean (11 miles south-west), Aldershot (14 miles north), Alton (8 miles north-west), Waterlooville (13 miles south-west) and Petersfield (4 miles south-west).

Surface by surface

Bathroom floors

Floor grout takes foot traffic as well as water. It wears and darkens over time.

Kitchen splashbacks

The grout by the hob and sink takes most of the mess. We regroute and reseal the worktop joint.

FAQs for The Mint

I let a flat near Liss station. Can you help?

Yes. We work for letting agents and landlords as well as householders, and several properties can be quoted together. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.

Do you cover smaller places like The Mint?

Yes. The Mint is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

What information do you need?

Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.

How much does regrouting cost in The Mint?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote.

Is it worth trying it myself?

You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, we can. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

Flexible sealant. Grout is for the joints between tiles and moving joints need sealant.

What happens on the day

Most of a good job is in the preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Somewhere as small as The Mint, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

How we quote for regrouting

You’ll get a clear quote before work begins. It’s based on:

  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Access and height
  • The size of the job
  • Any mould that needs treating

Combining jobs into one visit is normally more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

Helping us quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or email us if that is easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we’ll explain what’s involved and give you a clear price.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:

  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

Have any tile that moves checked right away. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and open a path for water.

Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

When something else is needed

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A structure that flexes behind the tiles
  • Tiles that are chipped or split

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.
