The Chart Regrouting
Regrouting for The Chart, by sealant specialists with 20+ years’ experience. Rated 4.9 on Google from 180+ five-star reviews.
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
How the visit works
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area for a typical job. Somewhere as small as The Chart, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
Before we arrive
- Mention any tricky access
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Move anything stored near the joints

Asking for a quote is easy: tell us what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we will take it from there.

Regrouting in The Chart
Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout belongs between tiles, but corners and edges move, so they need flexible silicone instead. Doing both at once leaves the whole area sound. We’re often asked to deal with dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and grout washed out of a shower, across tiled floors, shower walls and bathroom wall tiles.
Around The Chart, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.
We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee.

Keeping the joints in good condition
Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.
Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it so early action pays.
What we’re called out for in The Chart
Grout that was put in corners cracks because those joints flex. Those joints should be silicone, and if they’re grouted, a crack soon lets water in.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Grout stained black or orange that will not clean
- Grout washed out of a shower
In the older streets around St Andrew's, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Is VAT in the price?
- When the joint can take water or movement
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
What the job involves on each surface
Kitchen splashbacks
Splashback grout picks up grease and cooking stains. Stained grout is best replaced.
Wet rooms
Wet rooms have water across the floor, so sound grout really matters. We check the tiles first.
Regrouting in The Chart: local notes
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you look after a building such as Limpsfield CofE Infant School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. If you let a flat or house near Hurst Green station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

The Chart questions
Can you do regrouting in The Chart?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and The Chart is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Hurst Green station?

Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, and we have been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
What should I tell you?
A short description and the location, with photos by email if possible. If we need more, we’ll ask.
Is it worth trying it myself?
That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?
Flexible sealant. Grout belongs between the tiles, while corners and edges need a joint that can move.
Is there any odour?
It depends on the product. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.
Why it’s worth doing now in The Chart
With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and often a few days without a shower. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. Older cottages and farmhouses around The Chart can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
