Regrouting for St Peter's homes and businesses

About our regrouting in St Peter's

Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout belongs between tiles, but corners and edges move, so they need flexible silicone instead. Renewing both together means nothing is left half-done. We work on shower walls, wet rooms and kitchen splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and floor grout that won’t come clean.

Homes around St Peter's range from older cottages to more recent houses. In older homes, walls and floors can move a little more, so the right flexible sealant matters.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

Kitchen splashbacks

Grout behind the hob and sink works hard. We renew the grout and the worktop sealant.

Wet rooms

In a wet room, the whole floor gets wet, so sound grout really matters. We check for loose tiles before starting.

Regrouting in St Peter's: local notes

St Peter's is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you look after a building such as Dane Court Grammar School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Rented homes near Broadstairs station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

St Peter's is about 1 mile north-west of Broadstairs, in Kent. Homes, rented property, offices and hotels in St Peter's is covered for regrouting. The work is guaranteed for a year. St Peter's is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent we cover for regrouting. There’s also a page for Chelmsford, about 48 miles away.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and the location, with photos by email if possible. We will ask anything else we need to know.

How it works

There is not much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, including the tidy-up. Parking around St Peter's is normally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.

  1. We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on

Can I do it myself?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, then guaranteed for a year.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
  • Use gentle cleaners on grout
  • Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
  • Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower

Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it cures fully. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and let the room air.

Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

Landlord and commercial work in St Peter's

From a single let to a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

What we are called out for in St Peter's

Movement behind the tiles cracks grout. That can be a loose tile, a flexing floor or a stud wall, which is why we check the tiles first.

People normally contact us after spotting one of these:

  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened
  • Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
  • Grout in corners that has cracked
  • Splashback grout that has darkened

In the older streets around Parish Church of St Peter the Apostle, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

When something else is needed

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • A floor or wall that keeps moving
  • A leaking wet room membrane
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
