Regrouting in Puddle Dock
We cover Puddle Dock for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
About our regrouting in Puddle Dock
Grout is the filler between your tiles, and sealant is what goes along the bath, tray or worktop. Once grout starts to crack or wash away, water has a way in behind the tiling. Our job is to rake it out and put new grout in and renew the silicone at the edges. We work on wet rooms, bathroom floors and tiled floors, and the jobs we see most are cracked grout along the bath or tray and a grout colour that no longer suits the room.
London’s water is hard, so limescale builds up along sealant lines, in grout and on fittings. In Puddle Dock, regrouting is as much about a room looking cared for as about keeping water out.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

Should I try it myself first?
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
Leave it or put it right?
Regrouting won’t help where tiles have come away. We will tell you before any work starts so you know what’s involved. On sound tiles, regrouting avoids the upheaval of a retile. In London conversions, one flat’s bathroom is often above another flat’s ceiling, and a slow leak from a failed seal can end up in the flat below. Putting it right early is much less trouble.
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first and give you a clear quote before work begins.

The process
All our tools and materials come with us in the van, so you do not need to buy or prepare anything. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. It normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Many London jobs are in flats, so we come ready for stairs, narrow hallways and shared entrances. Mention any building rules, key holders or managing agents when you book.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Getting ready for the visit
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Mention any tricky access

Advice
Looking after it afterwards
How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Don’t ignore a tile that feels loose
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. Corners flex, so the sealant there will need renewing in time, long before the grout does.
Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets behind the tiles, and they can begin to come away and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
Do you need regrouting in Puddle Dock?
Poor ventilation keeps grout damp, and damp grout is where mould grows. When black spots keep returning, the mould has normally got into the grout.
The problems people normally mention when they call include:
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
For landlords with property near Upminster station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

FAQs for Puddle Dock
Do you work for landlords with property near Upminster station?
Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.
I live in a flat in Puddle Dock. Can a failed seal leak into the flat below?
Yes. In a flat, water from a failed bath or shower seal has only one way to go, and that’s down. A proper reseal before the leak starts is the easy fix.
What sealant do you use?
It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.
Can you change the grout colour?
Yes. It’s the ideal time to change it. Mention the colour you have in mind when you phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and include it in your quote.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new bead soon lifts. The old sealant has to come out completely.
Can I do it myself?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
If tiles are loose, something behind them has usually failed. Regrouting alone is not the answer, and we’ll tell you before any work starts.
What the job involves on each surface
Corners and edges
Where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop, the joint is sealed. Grout there would crack.
Bathroom wall tiles
Grout by the basin and bath tends to mark first. We can regroute just those areas or the whole wall.
Regrouting in Puddle Dock: local notes
London has a lot of flats and conversions, and a failed shower or bath seal in one can show up on the ceiling below, which is why it’s worth fixing early. London has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and taps, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you live in an older home near Moor Lane Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Puddle Dock is in London, so parking needs planning: let us know about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

What we can’t put right
In fairness, some problems need a different trade:
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Damaged tiles that need replacing
