About our regrouting in Oversland
Changing the grout colour is a simple way to update tiles. Light grout can go darker to hide marks, or the other way round. Just mention the colour you’d like when you call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email. Common call-outs are for grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned and floor grout that has worn and darkened, across bathroom wall tiles, tiled floors and kitchen splashbacks.
Somewhere as small as Oversland, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

Regrouting around Oversland
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you live in an older home near Church of St Peter and St Paul, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. If you let a flat or house near Selling station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

What else we do in Oversland
Leave it or put it right?
With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling means stripping the walls, making good and choosing new tiles, and often a few days without a shower. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. Older cottages and farmhouses around Oversland can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

Can I do it myself?
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
What happens on the day
When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before we start. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere as small as Oversland, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Signs you need regrouting in Oversland
Some grout fails because it was mixed or laid badly. Grout that was too wet, not packed in or cleaned off too hard can wash out within a few years.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Shower grout that has worn away
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
Schools such as Boughton-under-Blean and Dunkirk Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
Questions to ask before booking
- What guarantee comes with the work
- Are they insured?
- Whether you can choose the colour
- What the quote includes, VAT included or not
Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen splashbacks
Grout behind the hob and sink works hard. We renew the grout and the worktop sealant.
Bathroom wall tiles
Splash areas around basins and baths stain first. We can do part of a wall or all of it.
Honest limits
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
Joints and surfaces we work on

- Shower walls
Aftercare tips
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
Check the corner silicone now and then. Corners flex, so the sealant there will need renewing in time.
Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.

Normally, yes. Corners and edges need flexible silicone, and it makes sense to renew both together.
When can I use the shower again?
We will tell you on the day. The wait depends on the products and conditions so please stick to it.
Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?
We can. We will look at the rest of the room too and tell you if anything else needs attention.
