Questions from Old Alresford
Do you cover smaller places like Old Alresford?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can you do regrouting in Old Alresford?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Old Alresford is part of that. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.
Does someone need to be in?
We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
What information do you need?
Just the basics: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
Most of the time, yes. Grout fills tile gaps and sealant handles the moving joints, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. As well as homeowners, we work for landlords, agents, businesses and hotels.
Can you change the grout colour?
Yes, plenty of people choose to. A darker grout hides marks better and lighter grout gives a fresher look.
How long will you be here?
A typical job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.
Regrouting in Old Alresford
A bathroom with good tiles can still look worn if the grout has gone. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. We work on tiled floors, kitchen splashbacks and shower walls, and people most often call us about grout washed out of a shower and grout that makes sound tiles look old.
Somewhere as small as Old Alresford, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

What affects the cost of regrouting
You’ll get a clear quote before we start. It’s based on:
- How easy the joints are to reach
- Any working-time requirements on site
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Helping us quote
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- How we’d reach the joints
For a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the location and a short description of the problem. We will send you a clear quote before any work starts.

The process
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area in most cases. Somewhere as small as Old Alresford, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any tricky access
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
We also work for property managers and facilities teams. Several sites can be quoted together, and we’re fully insured for the work.
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.
How the job changes by surface
Kitchen splashbacks
Grout behind the hob and sink works hard. We renew the grout and the worktop sealant.
Corners and edges
Internal corners move, so they get silicone, not grout.
What regrouting looks like in Old Alresford
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Old Alresford. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room.
If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Managing a site like Perins School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

When something else is needed
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles

Can I do it myself?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Looking after it afterwards
A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
- Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
We’ll tell you when the area can be used again. Please follow it, and go gently on the grout at first.
Fixing grout early is a small job. Left for a few years, they can become a leak, so get it looked at when you notice it.
