Regrouting for Naphill homes and businesses

Regrouting in Naphill, done properly

If you’ve been scrubbing grout that will not come clean, the stain is often in the grout itself. New grout is the fix that lasts, and it’s a chance to change the colour too. If you’re dealing with shower grout that has worn away and grout that makes sound tiles look old, we can help.

In a village or hamlet like Naphill, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

When something else is needed

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • Tiles that are chipped or split

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

Leave it or put it right?

Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, which turns a regrout into a retile. Sorting it early keeps the job simple. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Naphill, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

Signs you need regrouting in Naphill

Poor ventilation keeps grout damp, giving mould a place to grow. When black spots keep returning, the mould has generally got into the grout.

People normally contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Crumbling grout between the tiles
  • Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
  • Splashback grout that has darkened

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Naphill and Walters Ash School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

How to choose a mastic man

What regrouting looks like in Naphill

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

Homes close to Church of St Botolph include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Rented homes near Saunderton station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Naphill

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements.

What we do, step by step

When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In a small place like Naphill, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Advice

What affects the cost of regrouting

For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:

  • The product the joint needs
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out

The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask about the job first and send you a clear quote before we start.

Asking for a quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Where the property is
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • What’s wrong with the joints now

To get a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We will send you a clear quote before any work starts.

Common questions in Naphill

I let a flat near Saunderton station. Can you help?

Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Is Naphill within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

How do I get a quote for regrouting in Naphill?

It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us what needs doing and where.

Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?

Yes. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint rather than sitting on top.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

Generally, yes. Corners and edges need flexible silicone and doing both at once leaves everything sound.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.

Is it messy?

Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Is it worth trying it myself?

It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.
