How we quote for regrouting

There’s no set price list. The quote depends on:

  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • How much there is to do

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What we need to know

Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:

  • The rough size of the job
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

If you are in Leadhills and need regrouting, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and you’ll get a clear quote before we start.

How we handle regrouting in Leadhills

Grout is the filler between your tiles, and sealant is what goes along the bath, tray or worktop. Once grout starts to crack or wash away, water has a way in behind the tiling. Our job is to rake it out and put new grout in, then reseal the corners and edges. If you have kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor, we can put it right, on kitchen splashbacks, shower walls and bathroom wall tiles alike.

Bathrooms in smaller places like Leadhills work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

When something else is needed

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • Cracked or broken tiles
  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
  • A structure that flexes behind the tiles

If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.

Questions from Leadhills

Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Leadhills?

All our work, in Leadhills and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Is Leadhills within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can you work on commercial sites?

Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area to suit the site.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Normally we do both. Grout fills tile gaps and sealant handles the moving joints, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can tenants book the work?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are glad to have it sorted.

Does someone need to be in?

It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient.

Signs you need regrouting in Leadhills

Harsh cleaners and scrubbing wear grout away. Some bleaches and acid descalers break grout down over time, leaving the joints sunken and rough.

The most common problems we see are:

  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray
  • Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles

Around Leadhills, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Why act early in Leadhills

Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.

Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Leadhills

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

Regrouting in Leadhills: local notes

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

Whether the job is in Leadhills itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

How the visit works

We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Outside jobs in Leadhills need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Getting ready for the visit

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Move anything stored near the joints

Keeping the joints in good condition

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering

Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. Corners flex, so the sealant there will need renewing in time.

Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets behind the tiles, and they can begin to come away, so regrouting early can save a retile.
