Inver: your questions answered
I let a flat near Fearn station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.
Do you cover Inver for regrouting?
Yes, Inver is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Do you reseal at the same time?
We normally do. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and wouldn’t keep water out.
How long does the job take?
Most jobs take anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area, including the preparation. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.
What guarantee comes with the work?
Our one-year guarantee covers every job.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.
How do I get a quote for regrouting in Inver?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote.
Which products do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We will tell you what we are using and why.
Regrouting in Inver, done properly
Across Inver, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. The old grout is raked out, the joints cleaned and new grout laid, and we finish by resealing the edges. Typical jobs include grout in corners that has cracked and greasy, stained grout behind the hob, across kitchen splashbacks, shower walls and wet rooms.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Inver work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Can I do it myself?
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
The process
The work is kept neat and contained to the area we are working on, so you can carry on as normal. The job usually takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Around Inver, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
How to prepare
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

What happens if it’s left?
It’s tempting to fill a few cracks yourself, but patched grout rarely matches the rest, and the old grout keeps failing around them. Doing the full area gives you one colour and sound joints throughout. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

What regrouting looks like in Inver
Inver is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Rented homes near Fearn station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.
Inver is about 16 miles north of Nairn, in Highland. Across the IV20 area, we can carry out regrouting at your property. Inver is one of 253 towns and villages in Highland where we work.
Every address in IV20 is within our area for regrouting. If you need regrouting at a property on Main Street, Front Street and New Street or a nearby road, we can help. We also cover the places around Inver: Hill of Fearn (4 miles south-west), Portmahomack (4 miles east), Fearn (4 miles south-west), Hilton of Cadboll (4 miles south) and Loans of Tullich (4 miles south). How to look after the new joints
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
We will tell you when the area can be used again. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.
Cracked grout does not stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.
What else we do in Inver
What the job involves on each surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.
Kitchen splashbacks
Splashback grout picks up grease and cooking stains. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
When to call us in Inver
Most grout is porous, so water, soap and grime soak into it. Over time it stains, softens and starts to crumble and showers that get daily use suffer most.
Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
Around Inver, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.
