About our regrouting in Hutton Mount
A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. Light grout can go darker to hide marks, or the other way round. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote. We work on tiled floors, bathroom wall tiles and shower walls, and the jobs we see most are grout in a colour the owner wants to change and grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned.
Smaller places like Hutton Mount still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Questions from Hutton Mount
I let a flat near Shenfield station. Can you help?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before we start.
Can you do regrouting in Hutton Mount?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Hutton Mount is part of that. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.
What information do you need?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. If you can, email a few photos.
Can you change the grout colour?
Yes, regrouting is the time to do it. Mention the colour you have in mind when you phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
We usually do. New grout beside old sealant wouldn’t look right and wouldn’t keep water out.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, every time. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We are based in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We’ll show you which ones before any grout comes out.

Can I do it myself?
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
- Skip wire brushes and scourers
If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and open a path for water.
Cracked grout does not stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
When to call us in Hutton Mount
Poor ventilation keeps grout damp, and damp grout is where mould grows. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Splashback grout that has darkened
If you look after a building such as St Joseph the Worker Catholic Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
Questions to ask before you book
- What preparation is included
- How hidden problems are handled
- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
What happens if it’s left?
It’s tempting to fill a few cracks yourself, but patched grout rarely matches the rest, and the old grout keeps failing around them. Doing the full area gives you one colour and sound joints throughout. Homes in smaller places like Hutton Mount can face more weather, and failed outside joints let damp into walls. Indoors, a failed seal lets water into floors and panels as it would anywhere.
What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask about the job first and agree the price before starting.

Quotes for regrouting in Hutton Mount
Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The number and length of the joints
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- Which sealant suits the joint
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re unsure, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.
What to tell us for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:
- How we’d reach the joints
- The type of property
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Whether it has been sealed before
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and add pictures by email if you can.
Regrouting in Hutton Mount: local notes
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you live in an older home near St Peter's, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Letting a property close to Shenfield station? Then clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

How the visit works
We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we are working on, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. A visit to Hutton Mount is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
