FAQs for Havering's Grove
Will you come out to Havering's Grove?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Is Havering's Grove in your area for regrouting?
Yes, Havering's Grove is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.
How long will you be here?
As a guide, most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Bigger jobs take longer, and we’ll tell you how long to expect.
Should corners be grouted or sealed?
We use silicone in corners and along edges. Grout in a moving joint soon cracks.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes, regularly. We can quote for several properties at once.
Do you guarantee regrouting?
Our 12-month guarantee covers every job, including regrouting.
Do you reseal at the same time?
We normally do. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and could still leak.
Will regrouting fix loose tiles?
Tiles that have come away need sorting first. We will point them out at the start.

Havering's Grove homes and their sealant
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you let a flat or house near Billericay station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. Managing a site like The Billericay School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. In the older streets around Church of All Saints, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Quotes for regrouting in Havering's Grove
Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:
- Which sealant suits the joint
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The amount of work
- When we can work, for business premises
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
Asking for a quote
When you call or email, these details help:
- A few photos by email, if you can

Can I do it myself?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
The process
Once we are on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In a small place like Havering's Grove, access is generally the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Before we arrive
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Advice
Leave it or put it right?
New grout smeared over the old doesn’t bond well. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away, taking any repair with it. Removing the old grout to an even depth lets the new grout key in properly. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Havering's Grove, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What the job involves on each surface
Kitchen splashbacks
Splashback grout picks up grease and cooking stains. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
Corners and edges
The joint between tiles and a bath, tray or worktop gets silicone. Grout in that joint wouldn’t last.
Looking after it afterwards
Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
Use a gentle cleaner on the grout and a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it, as they can break grout down.
Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. By then, new grout alone is not enough, so it’s worth acting early.
